Winter wedding at the Black Swan and Journeyman Hotel in Milwaukee.
This was such a fun Black Swan Milwaukee wedding that I photographed this past January. We began the day at the Journeyman hotel to shoot the getting ready photos and first looks. Following all of the first looks we went straight into the portrait sections of the day since sunset was so early. It’s always a must to shoot on the top floor balcony of the Journeyman hotel. I decided to take the rest of the photos in the alleyways of Third Ward. Check out the photos and let me know what you think in the comment section below!

If you are planning a winter wedding, then you will have to pay big attention to the sunset time. Plan to get all of the photos done before the ceremony if at all possible. This may even mean getting dressed three or more hours beforehand to give your photographer enough time. I walk through these details with all of my clients beforehand!
One of my favorite things about shooting at this wedding venue is all of the options or wedding party and couples photos. You can take advantage of the Riverwalk and Milwaukee city skyline, or head into the alleyways for a super industrial feel. Your dress will get dirty if you shoot in the alleyways, but in my opinion, if the dress doesn’t get dirty you aren’t doing it right!:)
